Former Dutch cricketer Peter Borren replies to a fan who asked him "if Holland cricket team exists"
The Netherlands is informally known as "Holland". It is a country that is situated in Western Europe with territories in the Caribbean. It is the largest of 4 constituent nations of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Talking specifically about sports in that country, football is the most popular sport.
On the other hand, field hockey and volleyball follow second and third on the list of most popular team sports in the country. However, that isn't the case with regard to cricket. But there is no hiding from the fact that cricket is slowly becoming popular in the country.
Yes, it's true. Cricket has made sensational progress in the Netherlands. Netherlands took part in 1996, 2003, 2007 and 2011 ODI cricket World Cup respectively. They gave absolutely everything to promote cricket and for that, they have put in a lot of hard work.
The Netherlands hogged the limelight when they qualified for the 2009 and 2014 T20 World Cup. In the 2009 T20 World Cup, Netherlands etched their name in the record books when they outsmart England, the current World Champions and inventor of the sport.
Since then, Netherlands earned a good reputation for their fearless brand of cricket. Ryan ten Doeschate is a popular Dutch player in the Netherlands and is also the only Dutch player to have played in the IPL for the two-time Indian Premier League champions, Kolkata Knight Riders.

The post on Twitter reads: "The catch by Shubman Gill to dismiss Ross Taylor has been voted as the Nissan "Play of the Test" in the WTC final by ICC." Peter Borren who spotted this replied: "lol". Meanwhile, one of the cricket fans surprisingly asked him: "What...Holland cricket team exists???"
To which the former cricketer replied: "'Exists'. Fair. Struggle to pay rent....But wear the orange with pride💪." Let's hope that the Netherlands make tremendous progress in cricket and become a competitive team.
