Hardik Pandya dropped and not rested unlike others by selectors for New Zealand series
India will be facing New Zealand in the upcoming home series from November 17. Moreover, the home series will contain a t20 and test series that will be played in different Indian cities. However, Hardik Pandya has been a huge disappointment off late.
India are coming into this home series after a very disappointing performance in the t20 World Cup 2021. The India team massively underperformed in the biggest stage of International cricket. The most famous one was by the Pakistanis after beating India in the first match of the tournament. The men in blue went on to lose against Pakistan for the first time in a World Cup game in the history of cricket.
However, the Indian players were expected to make a strong comeback in the wake of the historic defeat. But far from making a comeback, India lost to New Zealand in a similarly dominating way in the t20 World Cup game. There was no intent or will to fight in the single Indian players.
Moreover, their indifferent attitude was one of the key reasons behind such a dubious performance. The men in blue were completely outsmarted by the other teams that had less potential than them. However, it is expected that the Indian team will go through drastic changes from the base in the shortest format.
Moreover, India might go the England way to change the root and belief system in the t20 format. Nonetheless, the BCCI recently went on to announce the Indian squad for the t20 series against New Zealand. A lot of youngsters have been given a chance but Hardik Pandya is nowhere to be seen in the Indian squad.
Hardik Pandya could not make it to the squad, Here’s why
According to various reports, the Indian selectors, think tank and management have had enough of Hardik Pandya. The Indian all-rounder has been dropped from the Indian squad for a big reason.
“Hardik Pandya has not yet recovered from his lower back injury. However, the former T20 captain (Kohli in this case) was bent on having him at No 6 as a specialist batter, Chetan Sharma (chief national selector) and his team had to relent.” Everyone knows that Hardik Pandya did not deserve to be in the T20 World Cup squad. Moreover, the Indian all-rounder has constantly struggled for fitness and he has also not bowled for a very long time.
The 28-year-old was a huge letdown in the recent t20 World Cup. Moreover, he could even bowl consistently and he was not even good with the bat also. Hence, the Indian selectors think that it is time to groom a youngster who can constantly do with both bat and ball. And the head coach and management are looking at Venkatesh Iyer.
The MBA graduate has been brilliant in his maiden IPL season. Venkatesh Iyer also has been given a chance in the upcoming series against New Zealand. And if everything goes right for him, he can be an integral part of the Indian squad. However, he needs to maintain consistency and only then can he be considered for the Indian squad.
