RCB captain Virat Kohli fined 12 lakh for slow over-rate against CSK

After losing the game against MS Dhoni-led team by 69 runs on Sunday, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli was fined Rs 12 lakh for his club's slow over-rate. Every team is supposed to complete their full quota of 20 overs within 90 minutes.

Meawhile, the IPL governing council took note of games extending beyond the scheduled finish time in the last couple of editions. Since teams have been taking too much time, the IPL organizers decided to bring in strict regulations as far as over-rates are concerned.

RCB captain Virat Kohli will incur a hefty fine of 24 lakh if his side is found to have a slow over-rate a second time. Moreover, each member of his team will be penalized 6 lakh and 25 percent of their match fee.

“Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their Indian Premier League match against Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on April 25,” a media release said.

“As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to a minimum over-rate offences, Mr Kohli was fined Rs 12 lakh,” it further stated.
