IPL 2021: Royal Challengers Bangalore sign Scott Kuggeleijn as replacement for Kane Richardson

Royal Challengers Bangalore are in surreal form at the moment. Barring their defeat to Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League, they were well and truly sensational against other teams. Virat Kohli's team are currently on top of the IPL 2021 points table with 10 points to their name.

They played 6 games so far in the competition and have won 5 games at a net run rate of +0.089. RCB lost to CSK by 69 runs, which was their first defeat this season but that didn't stop their momentum as they went on to defeat Delhi Capitals in their sixth game at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. RCB defeated DC by just 1 run and clinched the thriller.

RCB rope in Scott Kuggeleijn as Kane Richardson's replacement

In the latest development, the table-toppers, Royal Challengers Bangalore have recruited the services of New Zealand all-rounder Scott Kuggeleijn as a potential replacement for Kane Richardson. The Australian pacer left the camp owing to anxiety amid the increasing coronavirus cases in the country.

For the unversed, New Zealand international Scott Kuggeleijn was already been part of the Indian Premier League. In fact, he was already a part of the Mumbai Indians (MI) camp as a reserve player. Earlier, he was part of the Chennai Super Kings in the 2019 season.

As per the reports from ESPNcricinfo, the Kiwi pacer moved from Mumbai Indians to Royal Challengers Bangalore. The development circulated today when the Royal Challengers Bangalore were locking horns with Delhi Capitals at the world's largest cricket stadium. However, the development has not yet been officially confirmed by the clubs.

It should be noted that Scott Kuggeleijn already made his presence in the IPL when he was bought as a replacement for the injured Lungi Ngidi by the Chennai Super Kings. However, he did not get many opportunities at CSK where he played just 2 games and picked up 2 wickets at an economy of 8.88 in 2019. However, he was released ahead of the IPL 2020 season after Lungi Ngidi’s return. Scott went unsold at the IPL 2020 auction.
