IPL 2021: Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer T Natarajan ruled out of the tournament with injury
Sunrisers Hyderabad have just managed to escape from the dead zone by rising from the ashes during the game against Punjab Kings in the recently-concluded encounter at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Earlier, they delved into a hat-trick of defeats and thus became the first team to lose three games this season.
After going through a tough phase, they somehow found a way to earn a victory. Meanwhile, the 2016 IPL champions suffered a major blow in their ongoing campaign after their key pacer T Natarjan has been ruled out of the remainder of the cash-rich Indian Premier League.
The Indian left-arm seamer was not feeling comfortable with the knee issue which kept him out of SRH's playing XI for a couple of games. Now the existing knee problem will see him skip the entire season. According to a report from Cricbuzz, the seamer's knee has been aggravated and maybe advised by the medical team to better miss the rest of the league.
T Natarajan was rested, not dropped: Tom Moody
While many fans and experts thought that the fast bowler was dropped from the playing XI, Sunrisers Hyderabad's team director Tom moody disclosed that he was rested. "Not dropped, rested - Managing his workload, we know it's a long tournament and he's had quite a lot of cricket already under his belt," SRH's team director added in a statement.
Natarajan donned the SRH jersey for the first two games before being sidelined from the playing XI against the defending champions Mumbai Indians. Even questions were raised over his shocking absence against Punjab Kings as T Natarajan was expected to make a comeback into the playing XI.
“No, he has obviously got a sore knee. Given the circumstance in these bubbles, if he goes and gets a scan, he obviously has to sit out for seven days. He has to get back in quarantine. We are just monitoring him at the moment. The physios are doing their best to analyse from a face point of view but he obviously has to go out and get a scan at some point,” SRH captain David Warner added in a statement.
It clearly appears that his knee issue will take some time for him to recover. Although Sunrisers have notable Indian pacers in their ranks, Natarajan's absence is indeed a major blow for the franchise. He might miss out on India's upcoming tour of England if he fails to recover in time.
