KKR star Sheldon Jackson heartbroken after not being picked up for the Sri Lanka tour
Indian cricket has always been a nation that has produced promising prospects over the years. Despite tough competition in the Indian cricket team, the talented ones including batsmen and bowlers still found their way to make it into the playing XI, in what was a dream come true moment for them.
But now, the competition has become so fierce and at the same time, the number of talented players in India have also increased to a great extent. The BCCI observed that these talents are getting wasted as they are simply warming the bench more often after failing to get opportunities to showcase their mettle.
The Indian selection committee decided to create a second-string squad so that the newcomers will get a chance to play. The main squad is already in the UK for the WTC Final and five-match Test series against England. Meanwhile, the second string squad comprises a list of new fresh faces.
They will travel to Sri Lanka for three ODIs and as many T20Is. Former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid is expected to be the coach of India A but hasn't been officially finalized yet. Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced their 20-member squad for the Sri Lanka tour.

Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Nitish Rana and Chetan Sakariya earned first-time call-ups. They performed quite well in IPL 2021 before the tournament was suspended. Meanwhile, CSK player Krishnappa Gowtham was also picked.
Prithvi Shaw, Manish Pandey, Sanju Samson are back in the team whereas Varun Chakravarthy who had fitness issues earlier has now been picked. Sadly, KKR star Sheldon Jackson was not picked for the tour. He was literally heartbroken after not being picked up for the tour.
Jackson has represented Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders and Saurashtra. After not being selected, he expressed his emotions with a heart-break emoji on his official Twitter handle. He was not picked despite his performances in the domestic arena whereas some of the players who performed well in the IPL were preferred instead.
In response to the wicket-keeper batsman's tweet, Sunil Gavaskar's son Rohan Gavaskar wrote: "Keep at it. Never give up hope and always be prepared for when the opportunity does come."
