Lungi Ngidi finishes his mandatory seven-day quarantine, starts training for IPL 2021

Chennai Super Kings finished 7th in the 2020 edition of the IPL at the United Arab Emirates. They might have started this season with a defeat over Delhi Capitals in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League but they made sure to tick the right boxes in their second game against Punjab Kings at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The yellow army are third in the IPL 2021 points table with 1 win and 1 defeat with a superb net run rate of +0.616. The three-time IPL champions became the first team to finish the game inside 90 minutes against Punjab Kings. They will lock horns with Rajasthan Royals in their next game on April 19 in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, CSK fast bowler Lungi Ngidi has completed his compulsory 7-day quarantine and has started training for this season. The South African pacer who accounted for 9 dismissals in 4 games in the previous edition of the IPL has now joined the CSK camp.

The right-arm fast bowler will be looking forward to delivering the much-needed amends for the yellow army this season. The South African pacer took to his official Instagram handle and posted a story where he was seen hitting the gym. He posted "And I’m out" on his Instagram story.

It was only last week that the yellow brigade roped in Australian fast bowler Jason Behrendorff as a replacement for Josh Hazlewood for this season. Meanwhile, Ngidi will now be available for the team selection in CSK's next fixture against Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals tomorrow.

It would be quite interesting to see how the team management would want to use him in playing XI. Considering the fact that the Caribbean all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has been performing well with the ball and with Moeen Ali and Sam Curran chipping in with all-round performances, there is a selection dilemma for CSK and it remains to be seen as to how the Proteas pacer would break into the playing XI.

Meanwhile, CSK coach Stephen Fleming hailed MS Dhoni for his 200th appearance for CSK. "He has been absolutely the heartbeat of CSK, there's no doubt about it. Whether it's performances, guidance or leadership... you run out of things to say about him," Fleming said at the post-match press conference.
