Rajasthan Royals' all-rounder Ben Stokes ruled out of IPL 2021 with a suspected broken hand: Reports
Rajasthan Royals encountered a terrible blow to their arsenal after their ace all-rounder Ben Stokes has been ruled out of the entire season. The all-rounder’s absence will give the team management a tough time to fill the shoes. The massive blow comes right after ace pacer Jofra Archer was also ruled out of the first couple of games of the IPL 2021 due to an injury.
Rajasthan Royals won the inaugural edition of the IPL and since then, it has been a series of disappointments. They had a terrible season in the 2020 edition at the United Arab Emirates as they finished at the bottom of the points table, which is their worst performance in history.
Sanju Samson who is the new captain of the Royals has a team that has a lot of fresh talents. The experts and fans were of the notion that the inaugural champions would do better this time around. Unfortunately, it is sad to see them losing Ben Stokes at this point.
Big blow for Rajasthan Royals
As per a report from The Independent, Stokes sustained an injury when he dived in to take Chris Gayle's catch. However, Ben Stokes' attempt proved to be unsuccessful as he dropped the catch. Ever since his effort, he looked in discomfort. It all started when Gayle hammered a flat shot towards Stokes at long-on but the latter landed awkwardly on his hand.
With Ben Stokes out of the team, the Royals find themselves in trouble waters as they already lost their opening encounter against Punjab Kings. They came so close that they nearly pulled it off but in the end, Punjab Kings’ bowler Arshdeep Singh was calm and composed as he got the backing of his teammates.

The young bowler kept things under control even though Sanju Samson and Chris Morris were at the crease. When 5 runs were required off the last ball, Arshdeep Singh bowled a superb delivery that forced Samson to go for a six. But the RR captain smashed the ball towards wide long-off and found Deepak Kooda. Punjab Kings won the game by 4 runs.
