Sanju Samson Posts His Fielding Pictures After Exclusion Form Indian Squad
The Indian wicket-keeper batter, Sanju Samson has often been termed as one of the most talented young batters doing the rounds in Indian cricket. However, he has strained to keep his slot in the national squad after making his debut back in 2015 against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club. In 10 T20Is, the right-hand batter has scored only 117 runs at an average of 11.70 and an underwhelming strike rate of 110.37.
Sanju Samson has also played a solitary ODI against Sri Lanka earlier this year in Colombo where he scored 46 runs at a run-a-ball. In his IPL career, he has played 121 games in which he has amassed 3068 runs at an average of 29.22 and an impressive strike rate of 134.21. Samson also has three centuries to his name in his IPL career with the highest score of 119 and it came against Punjab Kings earlier this year at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
In the 2021 edition of the IPL, he had amassed 484 runs at an average of 40.33 and a strike rate of 136.72. Apart from the ton against PBKS, he also scored a couple of half-centuries. Although the Royals failed to qualify for the playoffs, Samson managed to hog the limelight. He has also been exceptional for Kerala, his domestic team, in his career.
In 193 T20 matches, Sanju Samson has amassed 4725 runs with three tons and as many as 29 fifties. But despite his decent numbers, the rub of the green hasn’t gone his way as far as Team India is concerned. Samson wasn’t a part of the national team for the T20 World Cup 2021 where India went in with Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan as the wicketkeeping options.
On Tuesday, November 9, the BCCI named the T20I squad for India’s home series against New Zealand and Sanju Samson has been excluded. After getting ignored, Samson dropped a tweet, in which he demonstrated that he can contribute more than just how glovework. In four pictures, Samson can be seen diving full-stretch near the boundary ropes.
