T20 World Cup 2022: Rahul Dravid likely to groom these three players for the World Cup next year
T20 World Cup 2022: The ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup is on the edge towards the conclusion. And the talk on the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia has already begun. However, the men in blue had performed below average in this T20 World Cup. Not once did it look like team India were going to win this tournament or even qualify for the semi-finals phase.
The Virat Kohli led team first atrociously lost to Pakistan. Moreover, there was no fight or will to win the T20 match against the notorious neighbours. It was a completely dominating performance from the men in green. Similarly, India went on to lose against the Kane Williamson side. There was no fight or will against New Zealand as well. And this T20 loss proved to virtually knock out India from the T20 World Cup.
However, there might be many reasons behind such a depleting performance from India. The most important might be bio bubble fatigue. And the other one could also be the tight schedule. Indian players are constantly playing cricket since December 2020.
But the BCCI is now serious about the T20 World Cup 2022. This World Cup will be played in Australia. And the expectation is already high since the Australian pitches are pacy and bouncy unlike the slow pitches of the UAE. We might witness huge scores on the Australian pitches like in the Big Bash League.
T20 World Cup 2022: Rahul Dravid might groom these three players for the occasion
A fundamental change has already taken place in Indian cricket. The BCCI has gone on to replace Ravi Shastri with Rahul Dravid as the Indian Head coach. Moreover, Rohit Sharma will now lead India in T20 cricket.
This shows the sheer amount of seriousness that the BCCI has regarding T20 cricket. However, all these changes are being done for the next World Cup. And Rahul Dravid is likely to groom Ruturaj Gaikwad, Venkatesh Iyer and Avesh Khan for the occasion.
Ruturaj Gaikwad has been in phenomenal form during the fourteenth edition of the IPL. Moreover, he was also the leading run-scorer of the tournament. Rahul Dravid feels the importance of the player.
2. Venkatesh Iyer
Venkatesh Iyer has also gone on to perform well in the IPL. Moreover, Rahul Dravid is looking at him as a replacement for Hardik Pandya. The Madhya Pradesh all-rounder bats well and also bowls well.
The third name that Rahul Dravid is ready to groom is Avesh Khan. Avesh has fairly done well for Delhi Capitals and it is high time that a new bowler is introduced to the Indian T20 team. However, Indian Head coach Rahul Dravid could have many more young names. The Indian T20 team is all set to witness a lot of changes in the upcoming months.
