WATCH: Babar Azam's animated maiden T20I ton celebration against South Africa
Pakistan captain Babar Azam dethrone Virat Kohli from ICC No. 1 ODI batsman ranking. On the very same day, Azam also played one heck of a knock to prove his class yet again. In the third T20I against South Africa, he scored a massive hundred to take his team home.
Batting first, South African openers Janneman Malan and Aiden Markram gave a flying start as both of them scored a brilliant fifty and laid down the platform for other batsmen. South Africa crossed 200 with the help of George Linde and Van Der Dussen's knocks. South Africa successfully gave a mammoth target of 204 to the visitors.
In reply, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam took on the bowlers right from the start. Azam who was criticised for his slow knock in the last match changed his gears completely to score a brilliant hundred in just 49 balls. He is now the record holder of the fastest T20I hundred by a Pakistani batsman.
Roar of the Lion
Azam celebrated his century with a massive roar as he was fully pumped off on his special day. He then took off his helmet and kissed Pakistan badge on the helmet and raised his bat. He scored 122 off just 59 balls with the help of 15 fours and 4 sixes before he gave away his wicket to Lizaad Williams.
Rizwan also scored an unbeaten 73 off just 47 deliveries but he was overshadowed by Babar's brilliant knock. But not to forget, he also played an equally important supporting role at the other end to enhance the successful chase.
Pakistan chased down the massive target in just 18 overs and lead the four-match series by 2-1. The final match of the series will be played on 16th April and it would be keen to if Pakistan can manage to win this series or star less South African side will come on top to draw the series.
