Watch: Eoin Morgan gets run out in the worst way against Rajasthan Royals
Kolkata Knight Riders have tasted bitter defeats so far in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The two-time IPL champions were far from being competitive this season as they are struggling to pick up the pace in this season. They failed to qualify for the IPL 2020 playoffs, hosted in the United Arab Emirates.
Dinesh Karthik gave up his captaincy to focus on his batting. Eoin Morgan led the team from the front but couldn't make any further progress last season. It was the same case even in this season. In fact, it's been worse for the Knight Riders as they are at the bottom of the IPL 2021 points table.
They played 5 games wherein they lost 4 games and won only once against Sunrisers Hyderabad by 10 runs. It's been a series of failures and frustrations for Morgan & Co. They recently suffered a defeat at the hands of struggling Rajasthan Royals. The Royals have now pushed Kolkata at the bottom.
Eoin Morgan gets dismissed in the worst way
The Indian Premier League has witnessed crazy dismissals over the years and Eoin Morgan's dismissal was right at the top in terms of worst dismissal in cricket history. The KKR captain was dismissed without facing even a single ball in the game as he departed in less than a minute after he reached the non-striker's end.
The incident happened during the second ball of the 11th over bowled by Proteas pacer Chris Morris. Rahul Tripathi who was at the striker's end drove the ball straight down the ground. But little did he know that the ball would go on to hit Morgan's bat and the ball deflected its way instead of going down the ground.
Meanwhile, Chris Morris quickly picked up the ball and whipped the bails off. Morgan departed without scoring, which is yet another failure for the KKR captain. The southpaw hasn't really flexed his muscles this season. Rahul Tripathi scored 36 off 26 balls as KKR scored 133/9 in 20 overs. The Royals chased the target in 18.4 overs. Sanju Samson scored a match-winning 42 off 41 balls. Chris Morris was named the man of the match for his 4/23.
