The cricket fraternity has witnessed epic run-chases over the years. Be in IPL, PSL or BBL, the franchise cricket league has produced memorable matches. The sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League was earlier suspended indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The tournament eventually resumed in the United Arab Emirates on June 9. The match between Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United kept the fans at the edge of their seats because of what transpired in the last over of the game.

Before that, Islamabad United batted first and posted 143/9 in their quota of 20 overs. Faheem Ashraf top-scored with 27 off 24 balls. James Faulker was the pick of the bowlers for Qalandars as he took 3 wickets to his name while the likes of Ahmed Daniyal and Haris Rauf took 2 wickets apiece.

In reply, Qalandars were off to a shaky start but still managed to drive through with determination, thanks to captain Sohail Akhtar as he scored 40 off 30 balls including 5 fours and 1 six. After his departure, Mohammad Hafeez showed some resilience down the order by scoring 29 off 25 including 3 fours.

A dramatic finish in the PSL match

After his departure from the crease, Tim David and Rashid Khan carried the team hopes as they battled their way into folklore and guided Lahore Qalandars to a memorable victory. Tim David scored 23 off 15 balls including 1 four and 1 six at a strike rate of 153.33.

When 16 runs were required off the last over, Rashid Khan came out to bat and faced the music. The Afghanistan cricketer scored 15 off 5 balls including 3 fours at a strike rate of 300 and helped his team chase down the target.

When the majority of the supporters (88%) were in favour of Islamabad United, Qalandars pulled off a miracle and scripted one of the iconic victories in the history of the Pakistan Super League. Rashid Khan was named the man of the match. He bowled really well in his quota of 4 overs where he conceded only 9 runs and took a wicket to his name.
