Watch: Rishabh Pant neglects Ravichandran Ashwin's request to save Delhi Capitals a review

Delhi Capitals were earlier called as 'Delhi Daredevils' and the franchise came under fire for their inability to win games on a consistent basis. The Daredevils never stormed into the IPL final from 2008 to 2018. However, they changed their name to Delhi Capitals in December 2018, since then, they looked like a totally different team altogether.

When asked the reason behind changing the name, the co-owner and chairman Parth Jindal said Delhi is the power centre of the country, it is the capital and hence the name Delhi Capitals came. In the 2020 season, they made it to the final for the first time as they stunned big teams by winning crucial games.

However, they surrendered at the hands of Mumbai Indians in the final. Delhi Capitals started this season on a positive note as they defeated Chennai Super Kings in their first rubber at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After that, they were handed a shocking defeat by Rajasthan Royals in their second game.

Delhi Capitals made a sensational comeback in the next game against Punjab Kings where they looked rock-solid in the run-chase. Their bowlers might not have bowled well as PBKS set a target of 196 but DC opener Shikhar Dhawan scored a match-winning 92 in the run-chase and helped DC script a memorable win.

Rishabh Pant turns down Ravichandran Ashwin's request

Delhi Capitals are playing against Mumbai Indians in the 13th game of the Indian Premier League. MI captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and made up his mind to bat first. They managed to score 134/9 in 20 overs where Rohit top-scored with 44 off 30 balls. He smashed 3 boundaries and 3 hits over the fence.

However, during the second over of MI's innings an interesting drama happened when Rishabh Pant turned down Ravichandran Ashwin's request in taking DRS. During the fourth ball of the 2nd over, Rohit tried to sweep the ball off Ashwin but ended up missing it and the ball hit his pads.

When Pant and Ashwin made an appeal, the umpire was not interested. While Ashwin was convinced that it was out and asked the captain to take DRS, Pant refused it. Meanwhile, Pant was spot on with his decision and saved a review for his side.
