WATCH: Tim Southee makes a complete mess of James Bracey's stumps

Tim Southee

New Zealand's veteran fast bowler Tim Southee produced one of the remarkable performances of his Test career as he single-handedly ripped through the defence of England's batting line-up at The Lord's. Earlier, New Zealand posted 378 in the first innings with the help of Devon Conway's double century and Henry Nicholl's 61.

The southpaw Devon Conway's innings was laced with 22 fours and a maximum while Nicholl's innings consisted of 4 boundaries. Ollie Robinson was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts as he took 4 wickets. Mark Wood and James Anderson were pretty decent enough to take 3 and 2 wickets to their credit.

In response to Kiwis' big total, England didn't provide a good start at The Home of Cricket. The opening batsman Dominic Sibley departed for a duck after Kyle Jamieson dismissed him early on. Following his departure, Tim Southee dismissed Zak Crawley for 2 runs. However, England's Test captain Joe Root and opener Rory Burns brought the situation in control.

Both of them added 93 runs for the third wicket before Jamieson dismissed Joe Root for 42. After his departure, wickets kept falling like a pack of cards before Ollie Robinson showed some tempo by scoring 42 before Kiwis were bowled out for 275 in the first innings. Rory Burns was the pick of the batsmen as he scored an incredible 132 including 16 fours and 1 six.

The 32-year-old pacer Tim Southee was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors as he accounted for 6 dismissals. Kyle Jamieson took 3 wickets while Neil Wagner settled for just one wicket. Southee's wickets include the likes of Rory Burns, Zak Crawley, Daniel Lawrence, James Bracey, Ollie Pope and Ollie Robinson.

However, in the first ball of the 57th over, Tim Southee delivered a world-class delivery and to which young wicketkeeper Bracey had no solution whatsoever. As it happened, Southee sent Bracey's wickets for a walk and the video went viral on social media. The southpaw departed for a duck while facing his sixth delivery.
