Washington Sundar hogged the limelight in the wake of a sensational batting performance against Australia at The Gabba in Brisbane. When India were in all sorts of trouble, the youngster held his nerves and played an exceptional brand of cricket alongside his partner Shardul Thakur.

Both the cricketers drew plaudits from every nook and corner of the cricket fraternity for putting the team in the pole position. The duo added a crucial 123-run stand that helped Team India claw their way back into the game. Sundar and Thakur scored a half-century apiece and helped India post 336 in the first innings.

Washington Sundar had a dream debut at Australia's fortress as he scored 62 runs with the help of 7 boundaries and 1 hit over the fence. He looked good even after scoring a half-century and was en route to scoring a century but was dismissed by Mitchell Starc. Sundar's father expressed his frustration after his son missed out on scoring a century.

India chased down 328 at The Gabba and became the first team to beat Australia in Brisbane after 32 years. It was Rishabh Pant who hit the winning runs in the form of a boundary. India won the game by 3 wickets and clinched the Test series by 2-1, in what was India's historic second consecutive Test series win in Australia.

Washington Sundar did make a nice memory at Australia's fortress and in order to preserve his sweet memory, he named his pet dog 'Gabba' recently. The 21-year-old all-rounder took to his official Twitter handle and announced the new name of the dog and took the cricket fraternity by surprise.

The youngster uploaded the picture including the caption which reads: “Love is a four-legged word. World, meet Gabba! 🐾.” The post went viral all over the internet which also caught the attention of number one Test bowler Pat Cummins. The Australian pacer reacted to Washington Sundar naming his pet dog Gabba.

Pat Cummins was the pick of the bowlers in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series as he took 21 wickets to his name in 4 Tests. Responding to Sundar's post, “Fair play, what we can do, they won the match,” the Australian stalwart was quoted as saying in Grade Cricketer YouTube.


Both the cricketers will face each other in the Indian Premier League. Washington Sundar plies his trade for Royal Challengers Bangalore whereas Pat Cummins represents Kolkata Knight Riders. Both of them will go toe to toe against each other during the match between KKR and RCB.
